Microsoft MDOP’s suite of tools has six components. PolicyPak actually doesn’t “complete” or overlap with any of them.
Some people have said the PolicyPak is “the missing MDOP tool.”
So much so, that PolicyPak opens up a huge variety of new scenarios when used in conjunction with Microsoft’s MDOP suite as follows:
- Microsoft AGPM (Advanced Group Policy Management) + PolicyPak. All of AGPMs delegation, rollback, history, comparisons, templates, backup, restore, and all other features all work to manage PolicyPak. See the “better together” video: https://www.policypak.com/integration/policypak-works-with-microsoft-agpm-advanced-group-policy-management.html
- Microsoft App-V (Application Virtualization) + PolicyPak. Opens up new scenario for customers to deliver application settings directly to App-V sequences (sandboxed applications) and maintain these settings (even when the computer is offline). This is not possible using any existing Microsoft technology. See the “better together” video: https://www.policypak.com/integration/policypak-extends-group-policy-to-microsoft-app-v.html
- Microsoft U-EV (User Experience Virtualization) + PolicyPak. Use PolicyPak to dictate and enforce settings, and use U-EV to roam user-made changes. See the “better together” video: https://www.policypak.com/integration/microsoft-user-experience-virtualization-ue-v-enhanced-by-policypak.html
- Microsoft MED-V (Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization) + PolicyPak. PolicyPak can control and manage applications within MED-V, ensuring IT security settings are maintained.
